Mitchell County 3-8 School
Cope Architecture, in conjunction with Carlton-Edwards Architecture and Cook Engineering and Inspection Services, was asked to assist Mitchell County Schools in visioning a new Intermediate and Middle School facility for approximately 800 students. Mitchell County Schools has three buildings currently being used for schools that are in need of major renovations or replacement, and the business case was made to construct a new facility and consolidate the three outdated buildings. With our team’s assistance, Mitchell County Schools was able to acquire a $40 million grant from the North Carolina Needs Based Public School Capital Fund. The program includes a new building of approximately 108,000 square feet to accommodate 800 students from Grades 3-8.
