Cope Architecture provided architectural design and construction administration services for the design/build project with Merit Construction for a minimum security inmate dormitory.Driven by the basic need for observation and oversight of inmates, the design concept follows the philosophy that simpler is better.  The layout allows direct visual observation of inmates in the housing dormitories from a centralized command center, easing the need for cameras.  Circulation is also very simple, using a double loaded corridor, i.e., all functions are accessed from one straight corridor.
